Surf Ed 2023 Volunteer Info

An intensive six session program carried out over the Christmas period where children start learning about surf awareness, safety and surf skills based around the Surf Life Saving Education Program (Surf Ed). Nippers will take part in all beach and water activities and other nipper games.

Through developing and practicing these skills, participants will learn the basic lifesaving skills required to be safe around an aquatic environment. Conducted in a fun and safe environment, children will develop a close camaraderie that is synonymous with surf life saving.

Surf Ed is fully covered under family membership.

Those who would like to take the next step into Sunday Core or Surf Sport training and/or competition must first gain approval by the Junior Activities Committee (subject to numbers). A $50 levy will apply, which goes towards maintenance of Nipper trailer, marquees, etc.

SURF ED AIMS TO…

  • Develop surf awareness
  • Increase confidence and skills in beach related activities
  • Build the lifesavers of the future
  • Encourage enjoyable and healthy participation
  • Promote a positive, non-threatening environment
  • Meet new friends and have heaps of FUN!

It is anticipated that Nippers participating in the Core Nipper Program on Sundays throughout the season will meet the requirements of their relevant age group Surf Education Program and achieve their Surf Ed. Certificate.
