VOLUNTEERING
Our Club is a community service organisation, and does rely on our members volunteering in various roles. There is a volunteering opportunity for everybody.BECOME A PATROLLING MEMBER
Our core purpose is to patrol the beaches. To do this we need active Patrolling members. There are various function within a patrol, which can vary depending on members’ qualifications. These are qualifications you may not have yet, but that you can obtain through the club, which include First Aid, Advanced Resuscitation, IRB (inflatable rescue boat) crewing and driving, radio room operation, Patrol Captain and Vice Captain (Team leaders), foot and 4WD patrols. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for most of these awards.
As well as providing a service to the public, beach patrols play an important role in the team spirit of Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club. We have a wide variety of members from students, business people to doctors and nurses who all who come together to wear the red and yellow with pride to support the community. PARENT VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
Parents can get involved in the Nipper program in a number of ways:
- If you have your Bronze Medallion you can help with water safety and actively participate in the training sessions
- If you do not have your Bronze Medallion the club offers an Adult Bronze course, usually run during November.
- Without a Bronze Medallion, you can still help out in your child’s age group on the beach with roll taking / beach activities / set up and pack down
FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEERS
There are a number of major events and fundraising activities held by the club each year that require a workforce of volunteers to make them happen. Volunteers are required for catering and logistics for events such as the Rip to River, Ocean Swim, carnivals hosted by Ocean Grove, the Open Day and the annual Door Knock. We hope that all members will assist at the club in some way.
CONSIDER JOINING THE BOARD & SUPPORTING OFFICER ROLES
Each year nominations for positions on the Board of Management are open. If you have skills, capabilities, and enthusiasm to contribute we would encourage you to consider applying. There are also a large number of other roles across all areas of the club that members can nominate for. MAKE A DONATION TO OGSLSC
Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club receives donations from locals and visitors alike, to continue to maintain a safe beach environment for swimmers, surfers and beach goers. With these vital donations we are able to continue to offer our community services, water safety and education programs and provide facilities for our community and memberss.
