Nipper Safety
Keeping our nippers safe, supported and happy is our top priority. While the beach is our playground, it’s also a dynamic environment - which is why we have strong safety measures in place.We follow LSV guidelines to make sure we have the right number of helpers on hand – both in and out of the water – so every nipper feels supported and activities run safely and smoothly.
Nippers will sign in and out at the beginning and end of every session. It’s important that a parent or guardian remains on the beach at all times during training sessions. Nippers is unlike other sports in this way. This ensures your child has immediate support if needed and helps us maintain a safe and responsive environment.
OGSLSC is a Child Safe Organisation and provides a number of protection measures to ensure our Nippers are as safe as possible.
Working With Children Check
In accordance with Lifesaving Victoria requirement, OGSLSC requires all members to obtain a valid WWCC before joining.
Importantly, OGSLSC must also be listed as an organisation on the WWCC.
Member Wellbeing
OGSLSC has developed a Member Wellbeing team which aims to assist us in ensuring that every person involved in surf lifesaving is treated with respect and dignity, in a safe and supportive environment.
Code of Conduct
As part of the surf lifesaving community, every member makes a commitment to actively encourage behaviours that promote such a supportive and nurturing environment, and to adhere to the expectations as outlined in our Code of Conduct.
