Nipper Community
Getting involved in the nippers community is a rewarding experienceVolunteering
Our Nippers program is run by the Junior Activities Committee and made possible entirely by the time, energy and enthusiasm of parent and community volunteers.
As an example, to run a Core Sunday Session with 160 nippers on the beach, we’d require 32 water safety, 16 age managers and 6 coaches. That’s not to mention first aid, IRB support or any of the other vital roles that are needed to keep the nippers world spinning!
Below is an overview of the roles that are required to keep the nippers program running smoothly. Getting involved is a great way to build skills, meet other families and be part of the action. Don’t let the qualifications deter you – OGSLSC provides the training, support and encouragement you need.

Email nippers@oceangroveslsc.asn.au to register your interest in volunteering or qualifying for the above roles.
We also recognise we have a talented group of parents on the beach with a variety of skills, so if there’s something in particular you think you can contribute, we’d love to hear from you – feel free to get in touch.
Keeping up to date
For communications, the Club uses the Stack Team App. For new members, following registration, simply download Stack Team App from the app store then search for Ocean Grove SLSC. From there you can apply to join and once approved, go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Access Groups’ to select your chosen nippers stream.
You will also be asked to join a WhatsApp group for your specific age group where you will be connected to your coaches and age managers for day to day communications.
More than just surf skills, it’s a community
Nippers is not only about learning surf lifesaving and building water confidence – it’s also a place where families come together to connect and have fun. From casual BBQs and social events to cheering on the kids at carnivals, the club offers plenty of opportunities to make new friends and be part of a welcoming, inclusive community.
