How to join Ocean Grove Surf Lifesaving Club

Memberships for the 2020/2021 season are open.

As of 10 December, we're pleased to announce we can accept more memberships into both our Nipper Surf Education program (ie. the six intensive sessions 27 December to 3 January) and our Nipper Surf Sport program (ie weekly sessions throughout the season).

The club's Working with Children Card requirements are very strict. All parents must hold a current card AND OGSLSC must be listed on the card. The club requires evidence of this, usually in the form of an automatic hard copy letter that comes to the club 10 days after the club is added to one's card.

For families wanting to join for the Surf Ed program, the timelines are getting tight to meet this requirement (unless we already have your letter on file). We need to get at least one parent across the line with WWCC, in order to finalise them and child(ren) for Surf Ed. The other parent will remain pending, subject to WWCC.

From 10 December: If neither parent holds a current WWCC, please don't go ahead with applying and paying. Your WWCC confirmation is not likely to come through in time for Surf Ed.

11-18 December: You are welcome to apply and pay, but note that the hard copy WWCC letter is unlikely to arrive in time, if you add OGSLSC to your card during this period. Please go to https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/ and log in to MyCheck (creating an account if necessary), then find Change my Details and Add an Organisation. Make sure you specify postal address of PO Box 486 Ocean Grove 3226.

Email to admin@oceangroveslsc.asn.au a pic of your current WWCC plus a screenshot from MyCheck that shows OGSLSC listed as an organisation. This applies to both parents where two parents are on the scene.

From 19 December: Please do not apply and pay. Your applications will not be processed in time for Surf Ed.

At the end of this process you will be asked to pay with a credit card. Click on the 'make payment' button that appears after you have submitted your application(s). OGSLSC fees are listed for you. You have to manually enter the amount (since fees and categories differs from club to club). Please list the family surname in "details".

Please note that your membership application will not be progressed UNTIL payment is received. Once you've applied, even if you've skipped payment, a generic automatic email will come to you from Surf Life Saving Australia that implies that you should wait to hear from the club. This confuses some pending members.

Do not wait for communication from OGSLSC before paying. If you've missed the opportunity to pay on the SLSA joining page, you can do so via the Members/Member Payments tabs on this website. You don't need a password to access this area.

Unpaid applications will be rejected after a few months.

If you are not able to apply online, you can pick up a membership form from OGSLSC. The office is open from 9am-5pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There is a processing fee of $30 per application for hard copy membership forms.
