Coles tin rattle Saturday 23 December
OGSLSC has obtained a permit to conduct a Tin Rattle outside Coles OG (near Liquorland), between 11am and 6pm on Saturday 23 December.
We understand that everyone is rushing around at this time of year, but this is also what makes it such a great opportunity to raise money from the community. Money raised will go towards new marquees for the club (used by just about all groups, including Nippers, Seniors, IRB, Rip to River etc). So please consider whether you could spare us a couple of hours, and sign on via the link below.
We ask members to pay for carnival entries up front (or immediately after), once you decide to enter. This season we expect not to have to chase entry fees at all!
2017/18 entry fees (including $2 admin charge):
Standard carnivals $26
State Championships $39
Upcoming RSA Course
Social Friday evenings at OGSLSC
OGSLSC Lounge bar will be open and a food van will be selling yummy food, from 5.30pm on Fridays.
Why cook dinner when you can purchase something tasty and enjoy it in the lounge with a drink or two, and a friend or two?
Members only. Guests are welcome if accompanied by a member (please sign in at lounge entrance).
OGSLSC success at Coolangatta Gold 2017
This epic event was held in early October, with the short course on Saturday 7 October and long course on 8 October. Three OGSLSC juniors participated on Saturday and all did brilliantly:
- Cam Bohan 6th in U19s male with a time of 2.38.40
- Jesse Coulson 12th in U19s male with a time of 2.43.54
- Briely Wight 13th in U19s female with a time of 3.17.25
- Bill Strachan was the club's only entrant in the long course on Sunday. He completed the gruelling 41.5km event in a time of 5.47.52, finishing 6th in the 50+ section.
Congratulations to these four - the club is immensely proud of their achievements.
Removal of surf craft from clubhouse
With the pending redevelopment of the Ocean Grove SLSC club house the Committee of Management made a decision to sell craft that had been stored at the club by non-financial members of the Ocean Grove SLSC. At least two emails were sent to all archived members requesting their removal, starting three months prior to the sale. On 18 November, these craft were either sold by the club to recover some of the cost of storage or disposed of as scrap.
Financial members are also requested to take home any stored craft if they are not currently being used.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact Nick Bohan 0417 034 877.
Building Project Update
The new clubroom plans are still with the City of Greater Geelong, awaiting planning approval. Go to the Members section of this website for a look at the plans, along with a letter from President David Pavia.
The latest estimate is for demolition in early February 2018.
